Why are we renovating?
- The play lot, which has not been renovated since the 1980s is in need of a makeover to ensure the safety and full enjoyment of the children.
- For example, both seesaws are so worn, years of paint are worn through. The seesaws and two slides are made of metal, which is unsafe in playgrounds today.
- In addition, the ground at Chase Park is less than ideal. The mulch playground floor is not only filthy, but is also uneven. This makes it hard for new walkers to keep their balance and for children with physical disabilities.
- Both the playground and surrounding land are constantly saturated from rains. Pools of water collect, making mud pits where there should be green.
Scope of the Play lot Renovation
- Funds raised for the play lot will be use to:
- Purchase updated, safer and age appropriate play equipment
- Install a rubberized playground surface
- Relandscape the grounds around the play lot
- Improve lighting and perimeter fencing
- Create a water feature
- Maintain the existing greenery and large trees
